We are a little more than a week into March and the celebrations for National Nutrition Month. If you haven’t already yet, there is still time to make a new health goal and challenge yourself to try something new this month. Need some ideas? How about …..
- Tasting a new vegetable?
- Packing your lunch to work for an entire week if you normally eat out.
- Trying a new workout class with a friend or sibling? Many studios in the city offer free trials!
As we look forward into the weekend, winter weather advisories are popping up. Looks like despite lighter jacket weather the past few days, we are not ready to put away those snow boots just yet. Good thing I am hosting a night in with friends this Saturday to cook up some warm, hearty chili. How do you plan to spend this snowy weekend?
As always, here are my Friday’s Top Picks. Let me know what you think.

These JackFruit Products created by the JackFruit Company. I spotted these in a local grocery store on my way to work. I got the TexMex and Curry Flavors. Can’t wait to try them! Keep your eyes open for more grocery products and restaurant menu items featuring the JackFruit, a fruit closely related to figs and mostly grown in India. Like most fruit, the JackFruit is rich in dietary fiber but its unique “meaty” texture makes it an ideal plant-based replacement for meat and fish.
Top NYC Event
Grab your family and friends this Sunday and head to the Upper West Side for this year’s NYC Food Truck Fest. The event is free and held at Grand Baazaar NYC, the largest curated market in NYC.
Bring your appetite as this fest will be featuring 12 of NYC’s best gourmet food trucks. Everything from Fresh Lobster Sandwiches to Neapolitan Pizza, Grilled Cheese to Sweet Crepes and award-winning Empanadas will be served up. YUM!

Top Bonus Pick – Top Food Photo
This beautiful picture of a Healthier Tropical Fruit Pizza by wifemamafoodie. I’ts just too pretty to eat!
I skimmed through the ingredient list of this recipe – a few too many ingredients, many of which I don’t regularly keep on hand. But no worries, a beautiful and healthy fruit pizza can still be easily made by: spread Greek yogurt over whole wheat pita and top with sliced colorful fruit and berries. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Enjoy!
Have a Great Weekend! Keep Warm!
